Energía Aljaval to start development of five solar projects in Brazil

The projects will be located in the states of Paraíba, Río Grande do Norte, Ceará and Minas Gerais; and will totalise 770MW.

Following Energía Aljaval’s commitment to the South American country in 2020, the company has started the development of five new solar projects for which they are already working on the environmental authorizations and the interconnection procedures.

In a year of pandemic with the paralysis of the administrations, the company has managed to secure viable land for the development of five photovoltaic farms which already have their solarimetric stations installed and have recently started their authorization process.

The installed power of solar energy in Brazil last year exceeded 7.2GW and it is expected that in 2021 will exceed 10GW. In addition, there are four auctions for electricity generation and two of energy transmission already confirmed for 2021, as well as the gradual replacement of thermal fuel oil plants by natural gas plants, renewable or hybrid units.

Energía Aljaval redoubles its commitment to the Latin American market, where they have developed projects already in operation for more than 900MW in countries such as Mexico and Argentina. "The growth expectation in the renewable sector continues on a positive path that we hope will continue in the coming years", management said.
